Default tank gewehr ... the ultimate german mauser (rifle) [History lesson]

http://www.waffenhq.de/infanterie/tankgewehr.html

This gun was used against tanks of all things.

So, how many shots could your shoulder handle? I can't imagine the recoil on this thing.

In WWI when this thing was used, tank armor was only like an inch thick, if that.

Ok, it can shoot through one inch of steel. That's gotta be worth something.

Not saying it isn't impressive, but don't get the impression that this thing could take out an M1.

[/ QUOTE ]

Fledermaus =

1) german word for bat

2) An operetta composed by Johann Strauss II

3) A lightweight german glider

4) Possibly a clever ploy by astroglide to get me to buy a ticket to 'Die Anfänge der Fledermaus-"Beringung"'

I'm guessing #4. And no, I haven't seen it. It is something I do intend to remedy.

Modern American Army has the same thing the .50 caliber sniper rifle, take out anything short of Medium tank.

You can buy them from your local gun dealer.
