Folding pocket queens preflop?
Party 10/20 6-max (6-handed)
UTG is 40/1 over 95 hands. MP is 55/3 over 130 hands CO is pretty LAGy preflop and post. 40/27. His cap could mean a lot of things. Hero is on the button with Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG raises, MP 3-bets, CO caps, Hero??? |

Re: Folding pocket queens preflop?
Folds. Do you want to pay 3-4 bets on every street 4-ways, with unimproved queens against 2 very passive players who have shown strength?
After giving this advice, I will now light myself on fire. |

Re: Folding pocket queens preflop?
Are you on drugs? Email Party and ask them whether they can update the software such that you can 5-bet, immediately.
Seriously, though, 10/20 is absolutely nutso preflop and on the flop. The open-raiser could have KTs, the 3-better, 66, and the laggy capper, 99 or AK or even 55. Call. I've been in capped pots before at that limit and been shocked to find nobody had AA KK QQ JJ AK KQ. People luuuuuv to raise and 3-bet and cap with their medium pockets. |

[/ QUOTE ] I have flip-flopped in my mind about 5 times... Now I am sure I would quickly call. If your 3 opponents are holding say AQ/TT/AK, which is highly likely, then you are a monster. Or let's say AK/TT/JJ... in this case you are a tossup with AK and you are completely dominating the other two hands. In this scenario it's also more obvious if you are beaten if an A or K shows up and the action is heated so you can make an appropriate laydown. The only time you're in trouble is if one of these guys has KK or AA in which case you are not totally screwed as you are getting monster odds (implied particularly) for hitting your set. |

Re: Folding pocket queens preflop?
Sure. But guys who have shown no preflop aggression at all? Raising with KTs and reraising with 66? I don't think so.

Re: Folding pocket queens preflop?
imo you must play your hand.
i may consider folding it if CO put in first raise and the other guys put in the 3bet and cap AND you had more hands against them with these low pf %s. i dont think your sample size is bigg enough to fold your powerhouse, especially when it was co who capped. |

[/ QUOTE ] cold-calls the cap and flops Q22 Seriously, this is somewhat tough. You have an UTG raise and a MP 3-bet from guys who don't raise much (albeit small sample size). CO sounds like a donk; I'm sure you're ahead of him. You fear only 2 hands (AA and KK, total of 12 combos) and are a slight favorite vs AK (16 combos). You crush everything else. If these guys have other hands with A's and K's, it's likely they're sharing outs (and maybe someone has one of your Q's). You're on the button too; that matters. You're getting 3:1 on a call with position and it won't be reraised (I'm sure UTG and MP are calling). Even if you're sure someone has AA/KK, is it possible you could play this for set value (I'd think your implied odds are ginormous)? You'd have to make up about 12 BB postflop; hmmm..., maybe not. So I probably call, but then again I play 1/2. If an A or K, flops, proceed cautiously? Tom |
