Unfortunately that system drops below the specs I'm interested in. DirectX8.1 and OpenGL 1.3 support, 333MHz FSB, and 512K Cache are the sorts of things that people are upgrading from, not to

I'm going to move down on the DVD (good suggestion) and up on the RAM speed (but away from the expensive HyperX version).

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.

The updated specs if anyone's interested:

Hard drives (2 x Maxtor 200GB Serial ATA) acquired seperately.

NewEgg has 16x Dual Layer DVD burners for like $70. Sure, there isn't any media that can handle 16x, and to get dual layer media is like $5 each, but why not get a drive that can support both? It's barely more expensive, and it will pay off when the media becomes more common.

That's what makes it so insupportable that the video card you put in your $450 wishlist only supports up to DX 8.1. There was also no FireWire support on the Mobo. I know you were making an effort to help, but honestly, that was just a terrible system.

Check out www.ocforums.com and www.hardforums.com for information on building your computer. I used these two forums for help with building my computer and I couldn't be more pleased after using it for a year and a half. Good luck.
