tried party stud
Hey guys,
I tried a session of .5/1 stud at party yesterday and dropped 25 bb but I felt it was useful. Mostly I didn't catch any cards and was anted to death. One hand I wondered about. 5 players. The first one I have the highest upcard with a 9 and a 9 in the hole, so I completed the bring-in second to act. (Is this ok? ) Three players call, including bring in. Player directly to my left has a board of something like 46T7 and I paired my door on 5th. so my board looks like (96)9392 Action to this point has been me betting him calling. 6th action went I bet, he raised, I figure him for a straight, so I call. I fill on the river with a 3. I check intending to checkraise. (Is that ok?) Then he 3-bets and I cap, anyone do anything different? |

Re: tried party stud
Against a very solid player who three bets you on the river when you have a paired door, you might wonder if he had 9s full beat. But at low limit, with a 4- bet cap (so you can't be 5-bet anyway), and against almost all opponents on Party through 3-6, this is definitely the way to play it as they are likely three-betting with a str8 or flush without really thinking too much about what your c/r signifies.

Re: tried party stud
I am not familular with the structure of this game but in general, I dont mind the completion on 3rd but I think it is more of a steal attempt then a value bet. Betting 4th is standard I think as a continuation of your 3rd street action and the fact the pot is so big your going to likely call a bet here anyways. 5th is an obvious bet as well.
I dont give my opponent credit for a straight on 6th, and probably 3-bet there and even if you are behind you have a lot of outs to catch up but that may be too loose. I really like the CR on 7th since you did not 3bet 6th. If you lead here it will be a warning bell for a lot of people who would value bet lesser hands. |

Re: tried party stud
Given this info I dont like the completion on 3rd, nobody's folding anything.
