Re: 33s: JJ first round, call/raise the river?
Why did you play this hand so conservatively? You have a high straight, push it. There is no flush out there and QJ is unlikey, villain most likely thinks he's playing the board.

[/ QUOTE ] I should clarify, I am not in fear of not having the better hand here. I play very conservatively in first round, basically I'm looking for a double-through opportunity. I think I have that opportunity with likely the only high straight draw on flop. I'm hoping for an early bet on river and a caller when the 7 or Q hits, possibly a crazy bet from donk. It happens alot in first round as you know. Since I didn't get it, go for overcalls (or a donk overraise) with 3 to act behind me? Or make a raise against someone likely playing the board? |

Re: 33s: JJ first round, call/raise the river?
Bet 90 on the flop. No one who is way behind you now is going to call unless they make a better hand than you have (Ax, Kx, lower PP).
You could check behind on the turn, but I like a 1/2 pot bet, if for no other reason as a blocker. If someone has decided to get clever with the T-high straight, they'll likely attempt to check-raise the river if a blank hits. Push the river. The overbet into that pot is more likely to get called when peopel think they've got a good chance of splitting the pot by playing the board. Pushing is so obviously a steal... "You call, it's gonna be all over, baby." "I call. I play the board." |
