Default Bad play preflop, but what about postflop?

10/20 half kill live. Its pretty late at night, table is reasonably tight. CO is loose but plays okay after the flop, probably stealing with semi-light raises. BB is tight preflop, somewhat aggressive post-flop, but will calldown with a reasonable hand if you show aggression back.

Folded to CO who raises, button folds, I'm in the SB with AKo and I call (rather than re-raise), BB calls. (A reraise is better against a likely steal, no particularly good reason for my lame play.) Flop comes AA7r, I bet, BB raises, CO folds, I call. I check, BB bets, I raise, he calls. River comes 5. I bet, he raises, I call.

Sorry, turn was a apparent blank (rainbow, filling no obvious draws)

Poker content in the B&M forum? Ugg.... you suck at posting. Judging from this play you suck at poker too

he he he... ok, here are my notes.

1) raise pre flop, but you already know that. If you were in the BB you'd have a better excuse for not raising, in the small blind you better raise every time from now on against a late position possible stealer with AK!!!

2) You are out of position, unless you can guarantee the villain will bet the turn, I don't like a check raise here. It sounds like you knew he would bet.. if so nice play.

3) If the villains got a pocket pair then its not 77 or 55 (we don't know what the turn was). I'm willing to lose to a boat on this one, but 8 times out of ten you can cap this river and win.

PS: I wanna play there too.... soon.... soon.....

HI Derek,

Was this a short game? You mentioned late at night.

On the flop, once the CO folds, I don't see why you should just call. Regardless whether he would bet the turn or not, I'm going to jam it until he gives me a reason not to. Get his chips in while he thinks his hand is still good.

I don't think your preflop play is that bad.
