Umm, he sort of is. Its apples and oranges, but if he's healthy he's basically the biggest threat we've got.

[/ QUOTE ]

That's a big "IF" at this point isn't it? Abraham is a greate player. Don't think I'm saying otherwise. But I'm always concerned about his health. Meanwhile Ellis has missed what, 1 or 2 games in the same span?

John Abraham is not the Jets best defender.

I think Vilma will surpass this year. But the "if healthy" thing is what concerns me.

I think they will trade him for a #2 or something.

Hope you're right, been a Jet fan all my life. But I never get my hopes up too high.

[/ QUOTE ]

Then you're unlike any Jet fan I've ever known. Basically the only time I don't have high hopes for the Jets is when the season is over or we're playing the Patriots. Otherwise, I'm thinking Lombardi.

[/ QUOTE ]

All depends on one's perspective. You're thinking Lombardi. I'm thinking Al Woodall/Charlie Winner/Carl Barzilauskas/Lou Holtz/Richard Todd/AJ Duhe/Joe Walton/Bruce Coslet/Rich Kotite/Mark Gastineau/Johnny Lam Jones/Neil O'Donnell/Doug Brien/Paul Hackett.

No way. They won't trade him, and he's going to report. They've basically said to him, play a full year and we'll pay you like one of the top 5 DE's in the league which he is, when healthy. But they're not going to let him go, not cheap anyways. No way.

As for the Ellis thing, yes, he plays. But he isn't as consistent as Abe. Ellis had a really, really slow start last year. He's not better than Abe. But we can have this debate in week 6 and you're going to say Vlima and Robertson and you're going to be right

When he is healthy is key, at the same time I think he plays better because of the company around him. He has been surrounded by a very good defense and this has helped, opposing offenses can just worry about isolating and stopping him.

The Jets defense basically sucked until last year. Yes, there are other threats on our line. But take your argument and apply it to Peppers. Now tell me he's not as good as people say because of the rest of the line and I'll tell you you're flat out crazy. Maybe the only guy who is as good as he is w/o other defenders around him is Freeney. But otherwise your argument isn't very compelling.

Since there are so many Jets fans here, quick hijack -

Any other season ticket holders here? Section 329, have had tickets in the family since back in the Shea days.
