Default Why does my computer shut down randomly?

My computer shuts down randomly. This started a little less than a year ago. I don't know what causes it and I have reformatted, which didn't fix anything.

Is this likely to be an overheating issue? If so, how do I fix it?

This is the last time I custom make a computer

Does it happen after the computer has been running for a long time? If so an overheating issue is more likely the cause.

It completely varies. It can be 15 minutes or two days. Sometimes I'm sitting here, sometimes I'm away. I don't think it's ever happened while I was playing a full screen game.

do you use winxp ? try turning off the auto-reboot on errors feature. then you might get some error messages that might help figure out the problem next time it happens.

go to the control panel -> system -> advanced -> start up and recovery
uncheck 'automatically restart' under system failure.

Yes. 68c is way too hot. Servers in our datacenter will shut themselves down at 70c.
