Is it really that hard to get into the film industry?

I think it depends on what you want to do in the industry. I'm speaking from second hand knowledge, but I have a few friends who I went to college with that are now down in LA. They do have college com degrees, so I don't know if it's needed or not, but they're working in the industry and seem to be doing well.

One of them went through the DGA training, which I guess is tough to get into, but pretty much guarantees work. Another guy is the right hand man for a well known director.

Those guys knew other grads from our school who were already down there, so that was their in I think.
