[ QUOTE ]
im totally not a catholic

[/ QUOTE ]
so you believe the existence of the catholic religon means that god exists and that the catholic religon is about this god.

As I assume you agree the catholic religon exists then how comes you're not a catholic.

i said if man could artificially create life this would disprove the existence of God. im trying to disprove the catholic church by saying if there is no god there can be no religon.

Religon is about:
the vanity of man...

If it was about god then it would in some way be affected by the existence of god and the properties of this god and it isn't.

Religons do not worship god they worship man.

Chez,

I am not following this at all. I most assuredly disagree as I understand you, but perhaps I am missing your point.

Hi RJT

Thought I might not be let of lightly with this claim

The central point is that religous beliefs are independent of the truth of the beliefs. However, they are not independent of the nature of the believer.

As a side note, this wouldnt be considered to disprove the existence of God, Catholics would just change their interpretation of something to suggest God allowed man to create a life artificially and really it was God doing the creating. That sort of flexibility is the benefit of making up 'the truth' as you go along. Like the limbo thing.

if the big bang theory could be proved by experiment in a laboratory setting. that would be the artificial creation of life. only of God is supposed to be able to create life. so your saying that the 100 or so people who can reproduce this act would be considered gods. its called the miracle of life because only god can do it. if any dick and tom can create life its no longer a miracle. religons are created to explain how life began and what happens after. if you could artificially create life there would be no need for religon anymore.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is a false premise. God is capable of creating life out of nothing. Nobody can create life out of nothing. Using a means to create life does not mean the omnipotence which God possesses.

"Maybe, I'm happy to accept that I don't know."

How do you know that you don't know?
