Default Casino Rouge card room?

As anybody who plays in Baton Rouge knows, the Argosy is changing its name back to the Belle of Baton Rouge because Argosy bought out/merged with whoever owns Casino Rouge and had to sell a boat. I heard a rumor today that Casino Rouge will be opening a poker room. Anybody else know anything?

What limits do they have at the Argosy or Belle, or what ever it's called this week?

Half of the games are 1/2 NL, the other half are 3-6-12. Bring headphones as the CLANG CLANG CLANG of the slots just inches away from the tables will grate on your nerves.

You'd just as well take LA 1 to Marksville and play 4-8 there. Alot quieter, smoke free, VERY passive and VERY loose. I'll be there Saturday night, just look for the Full Tilt hat.

Looks like I'll be heading to Marksville to play, but not Saturday night. I hate 3-6-12 games.

Is it safe to say a player with a 3.5bb/100 winrate @ $1/$2 online can handle a 4/8 game in Marksville?

The 4-8 games in Marksville play like, and most times WORSE than .50/1 and 1/2 Party Poker games, so yes, you will do fine.

The majority of players are TOM (Tight Old Men) who only raise pre-flop with AA-JJ, only bet out with the goods, and only raise with the goods. Otherwise they are check/call all the way. You can't bluff them off of bottom pair, remember that.

You'll run into some young "gamblers" who at times LAG it up, and other times just check/call. Strange.

You'll also find one or two total passives who NEVER raise before the flop, and NEVER bet out. They usually don't last long so get their money while you can.

The toughest player in the room by far is Harold. He's an old pro from Vegas who retired in Louisiana and makes a tiddy profit from these games every day/night. Harold plays T/A very well. Don't be afraid to mix it up with him, just have a hand if you do.

Food comp is $8 after 4 hours which will pretty much get you anything on the Roxy's Diner menu. The food rocks!

The poker room manager is Kelly. He's one of the good guys, and has been around a long time in the business.

Have fun! If you make it Saturday, look for me!

The only games you will find at Argosy/Belle are 3/6 or 4/8 LHE and 2/5 $50/300 NLHE. They may have a 4/8/12/12 1/2 &1/2 LHE and Omaha High game if the right players are there. They pretend to run a $15/30 LHE on Wednesdays, but I've never seen it. The 10/20 LHE originally offered is done. They used to have 1/2 NLHE at 100 and 200 buyins, but it's all 2/5 50-300 now. I have never been in the room when they ran 3/6/12.

FWIW, I have never played a 4/8 game that is crazier than Argosy. Some guys want to play a red chip game, so they raise until the pot is $100, then play it straight. Other guys show up, buy in at the minimum, then raise until they win or have no chips. Sometimes they'll rebuy, sometimes they just walk off. Then you have the standard I'll see a flop with any 2, if I catch a piece I'll see the river donks. Very good games, but very swingy.
