I think I will wait to install it till after a few beta trials. How much faster does the new version make the browser? Firefox is great, but could be easily be improved.

Mine says 1.5.
A techie built me a new computer a couple weeks ago and installed it. I don't know much about what the differences are.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5

I haven't really checked out any new features (if there is any) but I found something I don't like. When you try to clear the history & cache and all that stuff, that CLEAR ALL button no longer exsists. You have to go under each of the 6 tabs and clear them individually. Unless I'm missing something, this seams like a step backwards in the user friendly department.

Actually, v 1.5 is released, not beta, not rc, but really released. ARS has an article and you can get it here for Windows.

you did overlook something. They added a new "Clear Private Data" option right in the Tools menu, and through there you can clear all of them at once

Technically, that's not beta, but almost no one cares about the difference.

I downloaded 1.5 yesterday.

It's much much faster than the old version.

It also tasks less CPU usage.

Also I can finally use the Black Japan 1.0.3. theme which is by far and away the best theme ever offered for Firefox.

I'm very happy with the new release. I didn't really think it would be so improved.
