Default Professional VDO poker player - crosspost with \"Other Gambling\"

Is there anyone like that ? I mean sucessful at it in the long term ? What stratgies to use ? What games do they play ? With the older versions of VDO poker and with club benefits, there were machines which gave you an edge and only if you play high stakes to convert the small ( 1- 4 %) edge to real money in the end.

Am I correct ? Any regular/ recreational players with thoughts/ ideas ? Bob Dancer did it earlier and made a lot of money playing 25 $ VDO poker and being "overroyalled" - hitting more royals than he was supposed to based on odds. But now he seems to be making more money with his books, talks, promos etc.

Thanks for reading and responding.

Did you honestly abbreviate video?

If any casino is running a +EV game, they won't be for long.

I did see a VP machine in the Stratosphere while on my Vegas vacation that claimed to return over 100% (likely, 100.02% or something like that). Of course, that's playing perfect strategy, which likely isn't very intuative in certain spots.

In the late 90s almost every casino had at least a small number of +EV video poker machinees, and advertised them heavily as such (but, of course, very few people who played them knew the optimal strategy.) It's nice to hear there still are a few in Vegas; they don't have them in the Indian casinos in the Northwest.

But even on one of these machines, you can't make a living at it - the edge is so small and the variance so high that it's easy to be behind even after a million plays. Whatever you get in comps is going to significantly outweigh what you get from the machine - indeed actually playing the machine is mostly going to be adding random noise Poker players worry about losing months - video poker players can have losing YEARS.

There also are people who watch the sizes of progressive jackpots, and bring in teams to play the whole bank of machines once the jackpot gets big enough to justify it. Maybe it's possible to make a living at that, if you have enough cheap lackeys and enough progressive networks in town to watch.
