resteal with air here? 500k hand

i just got moved to a new table a couple hands ago. there's been talk on the boards about "how much easier poker is when you resteal with nothing at 10-12x." is this a spot for that?

don't have the hand history, but i remember it all:

25/50 i have 56o in the BB
CO (4.3k) raises to 200
i have 680 after posting. push or fold?

SB and button are around 2k.

if i push villain is getting 1.8:1.

i think with his stack, your stack, and the blinds, hes calling with a lot, despite getting only 1.8:1 (or even because he's getting 1.8:1)

With blinds this low, fewer players are probably on a steal from late position, and you aren't threatening to make that much of a dent in this guy's stack. I fold.

yeah, i was pretty pissed at myself after this hand. i was going to post it as a "tell me it's horrible so i never do it again" but figured i'd let everyone say it's horrible without me prompting them.


this is probably the most clearly wrong play i've made in a long time. blech.

Not to pile on here, but it's very hard to resteal from someone whose stack you can't affect. To me this is the main reason this is bad. It's possible to give someone 2 to 1 and have it scare them, but you're like a gnat here. No way you get enough folds. Triple everything but his stack then maybe (75/150, he raises to 600, you have 2K).
