Is game Star Wars Galaxies any good?

Saw they had a free 10 day demo, probably check it out later this week.
Anyone play it before? How does it compare to other MMORPGs?

I've heard it's pretty tedious. But I've also heard they are planning some big changes to the whole game. So, you may want to wait until they do that.

Then again, they could have already made the changes. I haven't kept up on the SWG news lately.

In it's current state it is wiely hated and regarded as one of the worst mmorpgs out there. It is getting a complete overhaul and becoming an action mmorpg (in the process shafting many long time players). If you want to give it a try wait till the changes are made. Otherwise if you want a good mmorpg play World of Warcraft, and if you want a space mmorpg Anarchy Online is a much better choice.

I played this for about a month when it came out. It sucked. They promised changes, but the game was ill-concieved from day 1. I heard that the first round of major changes were not well-recieved... I hadn't even heard about this move to an action-orietened MMO.

Apparently these changes have already been in effect for a few weeks, and everyone hates it. Seems like every post on their forums are long-time players calling for a rollback. Mass cancellations, etc etc.

I'm really not surprised though -- it only took a couple weeks of casual play for me to realize that SOE had no idea what the [censored] they were doing with this one.

I played it when it was new and it was unbarable, and i'm a crazy insane Star Wars fan.

But i downloaded the 10 day trial and gave it a whirl after the new changes went live and it was quite fun, it actually felt like Star Wars instead of a crazy space basket weaving simulator.

I'm told there are still a lot of bugs in the new upgrade, so i'm going to wait before droping $15 to re-activate my old account and get my wookie on.
