Default SNG question...please don\'t be too harsh...

I was a cash game players for the last 2 years. I recently have switched to playing exclusively SNG's. I currently play the 16$ and 27$ Turbo's on Stars. My cash percentage, is a relatively small sample, is 56%. 1st place 27%, 2nd 32%, 3rd 40%.

My question is this, what type of %'s are considered "optimal" for SNG play?

Do a search for "May's Results".

There are many final distributions posted in that thread.

100% is optimal
40% is good

If you have less than 500 tourneys played your numbers don't mean all that much.

I don't see much point with having target ITM and ROI numbers anyway. It's not like it will make you play any better. More likely it will just cause frustration during the inevitable downswings.

Thank you both for your respones. I do understand the pitfalls of being results oriented, however, to make sure I am making the right move by switching to SNG's, I wanted to see if I am atleast holding my own. My sample size is just under 300.

Are these ten-handed?

If so these results are not even close to sustainable in the long run.

Your numbers are fine. 300 is still a bit small to draw conclusions from, but it's unlikely (possible, but unlikely) that you're a losing player with 50%+ ITM after 300. No way to know at this point if you should expect to make more or less than you did at ring games, but you're certainly holding your own so far.

Long term, if you can sustain 40% ITM and 20% ROI, those are numbers most people are quite happy with at that buy-in level.

Stars SNG's are 9 handed. I thought my ITM was a bit high as well. Thus the reason I was trying to get information on some statistics.

again this is a "newbie" type question, but ROI, could you please explain?

As far as ring games, I happened to do fairly well, as I was propping along with regular ring game play, however it became so much of a grind that I could no longer sustain my focus.

For ninehanded SnGs slightly higher than 40% ITM should be possible for a good player.
