Default first trip to turning stone casino

this will be my first time at a casino.
i was just wondering how the poker room is run at turning stone.
do you buy chips from the dealer or cage?
and is the poker room smoking or non?

also ive been reading that the 200 max nl game is superior to the 100 nl, does that game usually run all day or when does it start/end?

thank youin advance.

Get your name on a list (which are never too bad), and get chips at the cage. You also have to purchase a player card for like $2, which can later be turned in for a $5 comp.

There are very few smoking poker rooms left and turning stone isn't one of them.

If your there for the weekend it will probably be running all day. But I'd recommend the 5-10 limit! It's nice!!! Then again the 200 NL got alot of college kkids just tossing money around. I just like haveing more then 40 bb in front of me in my NL games

Overal Its an ok casino. The cage can really get a big line since the dealers user the same cages. The dealers are good, and most of the players are fish. If your under 21 i guess its good, but I definately prefer AC. Also ask about the poker rate for your room if u have't already.

Any other ? just ask. As it turns out i might be down there Saturday so maybe ill see ya

A standard limit buy in is 20BB, so 200, but have more in reserve.

Yes, the 200NL is much better than the 100NL. The people throwing money around in the 200NL are not the college students, it's the adults with the larger rolls. From what I've seen, the college players in the 200NL are better than the adults by a lot. The bad college players play the 100NL, while lot of the 200NL players like it more because it's a shorter wait and more money for them to gambooool with.

The dealers are good. The floor is average.

So is the casino a 18+? or 21? Just curious since I'll be in the area over the summer and I'm only 20

18+ and BYOB. I'm shocked to never hear a story about someone waltzing into this joint with a case of beer and putting whole tables on drunken tilt. I will do it next time I go with someone who can drive me home.

DRUNK 1-3 is a favored pasttime of a couple of my buddies who go up their pretty often. Bringing your own case of beer to sit with is a classic idea though =o)

i ended up starting playing on the 100 nl.
lost my first 100 then got even.
after dinner i started playing the 200 max 1-2 blinds nl which is a new game there.
played for about 8 hours. very loose. no one raising preflop, but would call most raises of 7-15 dollars with their 2 dollars invested with junk hands.
ended up leaving the table with 720.

hope to go back asap.

the staff was a grab bag, some people were very friends, to some people being horrible.

the only other problem i had was since they use the big faced cards it's very difficult to read the suits on your cards has anyone else noticed this?
