I realise the meaninglessness of these numbers.

However I am not sure that Paul does. As last year around this time (or maybe November or so) he was offering to take on all comers on cross booking him against Phil Helmuth.

I wonder if anyone took him up on it... cause it looks pretty sick right about now.

Umm, well, everyone posting on the subject "cares" enough to bother discussing it...that's why they're posting. If your point is that plenty of the stuff discussed in these forums can't hold a candle to the significance of, say, cancer research, then I guess point taken...but since most of us would either be playing poker, talking about poker, or talking about people who play poker, this seems like as reasonable a topic of discussion as any other. No, that's not the only thing that matters at all.

It also matters how a person handles himself in public settings. That's why people hate Bonds, notwithstanding his numbers.

And it matters whether a person posts under an alias to defend himself in the third person, since that goes directly to whether he's trustworthy.

So, the fact that a guy who (perhaps) is succeeding from a financial perspective in the game is still enough of a loser to defend himself in the third person, and to act like a jackass on tv, is interesting largely BECAUSE of his success in the game. That's why people are much more interested in PH's antics than, say, Smoothcall.
