Default Opionions Please

Hi there,
I posted another thread here about a tournament structure that had a starting stack of 60x Level One Big Blind. This was decided to be too much and I have reduced it to 50x.

I want to be able to host 2 tournament types with the same set of chips:
1) A Re-Buy tournament with Unlimited Re-Buys for the first 1.5 hours and an Add On,
2) A Freezeout

If you can imagine I have a budget that will allow me to get 2,000 chips. So to cater for 50 re-buy players, I can allow each player 40 chips. Now with this 40 chips I want to be able to divide the individual colour amounts in two to allow for a stack of 20 chips for 2 freezeout players if I am having a freezeout instead of a rebuy.

So if you can just imagine I have a shelf with 50 stacks of 40 chips. If I wanted chips for a 33 player Re-Buy tournament, I woild take 33 stacks. If I wanted chips for a 82 player freezeout, I would take 41 stacks.

The following structure accommodates for this set up:

Re-Buy
$25 x 8
$100 x 8 (+2 to colour up above)
$500 x 1 (+2 to colour up above)
$1000 x 1

Total Starting Chips: 18 = $2,500

Re-Buys and Top Ups:
$1000 x 2
$500 x 1
Total Re-Buy/Top up amount = $2,500

I am assigning enough chips to allow each player Re-Buy 4 times and Top-Up once. Of course not everyone will be doing this so this will mean those who want to Re-Buy more will be able to use the chips assigned to those who do not need to Re-Buy.

I will also have:
$5,000 x 2

This will allow for colouring up to clear excess clutter.

So in total per player for a Re-Buy tournament there will be:
$25 x 8
$100 x 8 (+2)
$500 x 1 (+2) (+RB&TU 5)
$1000 x 1 (+RB&TU 10) (+ 1 spare)
$5000 x 2

Total Chips: 40 per player.

Now, these 40 chips will be split in two to accommodate 2 freezeout players like so:

$25 x 4
$100 x 5
$500 x 4
$1000 x 6
$5000 x 1

The best way I have found out get a starting stack of 50x BB with this chip amount is to change the value of the colours so just say in the Re-Buy that:
Green = $25 (4)
Black = $100 (5)
Red = $500 (4)
White = $1000 (6)
Blue = $5000 (1)

So for the freezeout:
Black = $10 (5)
White = $50 (5) (+1 to colour up above)
Red = $100 (3) (+1 to colour up $100 of above)
Green = $200 (2) (+2 to colour up 2 x $100 + 4 x $50)

Total Starting Chips: 15 = $1,000 (Starting Blinds 10/20 = 50x BB)

Blue = $1,000 (1) to be used to colour up later to clear clutter.

So Total Chips per player for freezeout:
Black $10 (5)
White $50 (6)
Red $100 (4)
Green $200 (4)
Blue (1)

So I have used every chip as economically as possible.

Do you think this structure is ok both for Re-Buy and Freezeout? I know the colour/value system is a bit up in the air but that's not really important if we have chips without denominations (which we do) and if we have posters of chip value for each different tournament.

I would appreciate any feedback. Maybe I can finally get a nights rest if this works out!

Don't use so many denominations. For 2,500 chips, this is what I would recommend for starting chips:

25 x 12
100 x 12
500 x 2

OR

25 x 8
100 x 8
500 x 3

etc...

Keep it simple.
