Default poker rates at Foxwoods??

I searched the forum for info but came up dry. Any recent news on what they offer, if anything?

I don't know if they offer an explicit poker rate, but as soon as I got one of their rating cards, I ended up on their mailing list, and I regularly get offers for $90 nights at the Two Trees or $100 at either of the main hotels. (Weeknights only, one day per week, etc.)

FW's always seems to be full, but the poker room might be able to get you a room if they have some late cancellations. I've never heard of a poker rate per se, but once you start to accumulate Wampum points you'll get flyers in the mail with reduced rates. Even then, call at least a few weeks ahead to increase your chance of getting a room.

I just book the reduced rate directly via their web site. No need to interact with any humans until you arrive.

I've also had some luck catching last-minute cancellations by hitting their web site repeatedly in the morning of whatever day I want to go.

Thanks. I was on their website, though, and didn't notice any avenue for accessing a "reduced" rate. All I got was $315 for two nights in the Great Cedar. Where did you go?

Log in to your "Wampum" account. The reduced rates will be listed on the first page you get after logging in.

foxwoods comps are pretty hard to come by. with my level of play I usually get $15-25 cashback offers and free rooms sunday-thursday in AC, but the CT spots still only mail me $5 in points a week and the reduced rates already mentioned by others on this thread.

you get rated about 1-2 points per hour for ring games. if you want to pay for your room completely, the fastest way to earn points at relatively low risk is to play the $1 and up video poker machines. the paytables aren't stellar but they give you back 1.11% on your action which is much higher than AC or vegas (though no cash value). a few months a year they have double points promotions and I can churn $50-60 in wampum per hour on just a $100-200 buy in (particularly on the 3-5 play slant tops). if you play blackjack, expect 20% of your flat bet per hour in comp (eg. $5/hr for $25 per hand).

I usually book the Great Cedar Hotel. it's cheaper than Pequot but still part of the main complex, and it's centrally located between all the casino floors. the corner suites can be a bargain if you stay on a thursday or sunday night.

Actually, I think FW pays .5 points/hour at a low limit ring game.

My M.O. is to:

1) Book the cheap rate at the Great Cedar. Yeah, TT is $10 cheaper, but it's so much more convenient to stay at the GC.
2) Find some incredibly squishy O8 or Stud game
3) Win enough to pay for room and meal
4) Spend remainder of the time having fun

I know the games are soft from prior visits, so I hope to win enough to cover regardless. What I don't have, though, is a Wampum account.

Thanks for the advice. Glad to hear Great Cedar is a good place to stay. I didn't have any choice in the matter.

It takes about 5 minutes and no money to get a Wampum account. The only downside to getting one is getting on one more (snail) mailing list.

The upside is the room discounts, and at least you'll earn enough after an 8 hour session to buy a burger or something. Just don't forget to hand your card to the floor when you're seated, and to check out at the desk when you pick up.

To tell the truth, I think I've collected as many comp points from the "Free 5 points/week" coupons they send me in the mail as from playing any actual games.

The Great Cedar is nice enough. Mostly, I like it because it means I can just put on my fuzzy slippers and pad down to the casino.
