It's been many months since I've checked out the PokerEdge website and I'm taken aback that so many people are still using this product. There are many posters who have indicated they have received an identical warning and they all tell the same story: I was playing at Party and just opened Pokeredge to 'check my own stats,' when I received this horrible message.

Pokeredge is clearly banned at Party Poker, Pokerstars, etc. Read the TOS and read it often; your online bankroll might appreciate it. Also, use some common sense and delete your cookies and internet temp files.

I would rather the sites err on the side of caution and not speculate as to why people utilize banned software. The only important consideration is that the poster admits he A) Went to a cheat site, whose software is clearly banned. B) Utilized the banned software, even if in a limited capacity.

The moral of the story is that the forbidden fruit has worms in it. Resist the urge to devour it but if you can't, at least try to clean up the mess you leave behind.

As far as I'm concerned, people who still Pokeredge are no better than people than people who use bots or collude over the telephone. They have demonstrated they think they're above the law so to speak (or incredibly stupid). And yes, many will plead ignorance and say they didn't know better. And like the motorist who claims he didn't know the speed limit was 55 mph when driving 68 mph, ignorance of the law does not grant one immunity from its consequences. Party Poker, like a generous traffic officer, offers the offender a warning the first time they speed. But when the cocky motorist persists in reckless driving, they send them before the judge who reads them the law (the TOS is this instance) and delivers the penalty.

Do you not understand that after they sent out a warning to me I stayed 100% clear of that website, and as I have mentioned, the software had been uninstalled long before it. Ok, warn me for going to the website, but how can I be banned for doing nothing more than that?

The scary thing is you have no legal recourse against them.

Most big sites don't just randmoly steal player's money, as it would be really bad PR and cost them $ int he long run.

Not really, they just come here complain, and Granny will tell them they must be evil, sadistic, cheating little Herbets, who have trouble in their bones and darkness in their hearts. Then everyone joins in, and says, thats almost certainly true, and the complainer is discredited, thus online sites can steal with impunity, so long as they don't steal from a 'reputable poster of longstanding'.

NOT fair!

this is the first post about fund seizure i have seen in months and months, and the first ever i have seen from party. the only others we have discussed here have been random prima seizures for collusion (which all seemed deserved).

your generalization is clearly not based in fact, mack.

Perhaps, you are always in these threads where people have had accounts closed though. Quite a few people were thrown out by Party at the time Pokeredge was banned, Party have never really made it clear what is and what isn't banned, which I think is unfair, I applaud Stars for making a post here, detailing exactly what is and what isn't allowed. I would like to make it clear that I have never used or been near the Pokeredge site, I think the people who used it deserve to lose their money, but then I also think they deserve fair warning first, including details of exactly what they did wrong.

Regards Mack

Quote from http://www.partypoker.com/about_us/u...ge_policy.html

The use of certain programs and their websites on the PartyGaming system are blocked outright. These are: WinHoldem, PokerBot plus, PokerEdge, Poker Prophecy, Poker Sherlock and PokerBot Pro. Our decision to block the use of these programs was made only after our determination that they satisfy the criteria for placement in the Forbidden Category defined above.

and

* In this message, we have used the term “program” in the functional sense—i.e. since the term is used in connection with defining a particular class of things (that we wish to forbid the use of by players while playing on PartyPoker) based on their function rather than on any other attribute—for instance, based on whether they are formally classified as “software” or not. Thus our use of the term program is used should be construed as broadly as possible—to include (i) down-loadable programs (whether downloaded from a portable storage medium) or transfer via network connection (e.g., the Internet); and (ii) non-downloadable programs (not resident completely on the player’s computer but accessed via e.g., the Internet).

This type of thing scares the [censored] outta me. The software doesn't give that big of an edge anyways, does it?

[/ QUOTE ]

From the Pokeredge web site:

Imagine knowing exactly how all of your opponents play before ever sitting at a poker table. Now use this knowledge to exploit their weaknesses and capitilize on their common mistakes all while avoiding unprofitable confrontations with tough opponents.

Sounds like an edge to me. I applaud Party and the other sites for taking action against these programs.

All these programs are lame (not to mention unethical) attempts to find an easy shortcut to winning, without putting in the work required. Learn to read your opponents. Learn to play poker.

Which is why I have a poker PC. There's nothing on it but poker clients, PT and PA. And imaging software so I can take a snapshot of the rare royal flush, or the frequent crapping out of their software.

It has a web browser with nothing in the bookmark folder except the junk the browser insists on installing. I never surf the net on the poker PC, and I'm certainly not going to give them free access to my financial records or porn collection.
