While it's true that anti-American bigotry and hatred is rampant around the world, it's hard to maintain such hateful and bigoted ideas when confronted by images of actual human beings suffering.

I'm not surprised at the offers of help from others around the world. We're all human after all - and perhaps this will remind at least some around the world of that simple fact.

Yeah and maybe it will help Americans realise that its not acceptable for the US government to murder people around the world to improve US citizens quality of life. Maybe they will realise that even though they do this, they can still rely on the rest of the world to have compassion for ordinary Americans in times of suffering, its called humanity and a little bit goes a long way.

Jamaica offered assistance, as well as Canada. They were both turned down by federal autorities.

Canada had urban rescue units ready to go, but they were denied entrance by DHS.

Just an update on this:
Norway: Prime Minister interviewed today saying the government is still waiting for acceptance of offer for help (meaning: nothing done). Norwegian television says that American authorities said previously that they don't want help (!).

Sweden: Plane destined to leave tomorrow morning with aid has still not received a answer from American government whether or not to leave.
