Default when protecting the bb goes horribly wrong

10 handed 30/60 party

I'm on the bb w/ AcJs

3rd position is a 12/9/1.8 raises, 4th position calls (no stats), 5th position cold calls (27/11/2.9), I call

flop is Ad Tc 9c, I check, 3rd and 4th position check, 5th position bets, I c/r with top pair and the backdoor nut flush draw and backdoor straight draw, 2 folds, 5th position 3 bets, I call

turn is Jd, I c/r and am 3 bet again.....

I have odds to call here, but can I really fold the river unimproved in a pot this big?..... what about if a 3rd club hits, can I fold then?

I would have just bet out on the turn to avoid being three bet by a monster here and to ensure I don't give a dangerous free card.

You can absolutely not fold this hand. Pretty much any line that doesn't include folding is fine. An ag of 2.9 is very, very high, especially with a vpip of 27.

jetsonsogcanfly has it right IMO. He is too aggressive. He could be 3 betting the turn with AK-A9 amongst other hands.

Folding isn't smart, that is assuming you don't have a great read on him.

I like the turn check raise. The villian is overly aggressive and, with that aggression level, is more likely to be betting his draws. Even though this situation didn't turn out well for you, long term it should do fine.

I like it so far. I don't like a fold. You don't think AT or A9 is in his given range?

call down. you may be beh
