Value Checking My Nutz
Perhaps the worst turn check of all time? We'll see...
˝ NL Home game. Villain is rather LAG. Earlier I doubled him up pushing with AJ on board of 6266 when he called with 92x. Also earlier I made a 2/3 pot value bet on the river after hitting quads which got many oohs and ahhhs so that was a consideration, too. Villain has $250, I have $400. I have qj spades in the CO, two limpers (incld. Villain). I raise to 10. BB, both limpers call. Flop 9sTs3x. Checked to me. Bet 25. Villain calls. Turn: Ks. V says “Ooooh you flushed up huh?” checks. I………? So I check. I know. But I really put him on a lone 10 or 9 here. My best hope is 2pair. River: Qx He checks again… I…….. I would love him to have JT but that seems unlikely. 9T maybe but more likely A9 or AT. Push and pray? Pot? ˝ pot? I don’t even want to tell you what I really did (hint: I didn’t exactly check). |

Re: Value Checking My Nutz
In the first hand you pushed with nothing and villian called with a boat and you hit one of 7 cards to win...
In this situation bet just under pot to try and make it look like a steal |

Re: Value Checking My Nutz
Just under pot? So like 70? I was thinking I blew the steal possibility by checking after his little "flushie" comment...
Also, I missed my seven outer in the earlier hand. He doubled up on me, not vice versa. So he's not steamy or anything. |

Re: Value Checking My Nutz
Nothing huh?
So I guess it's a consensus. 2/3-pot sized vb. That's not at all what I suspected, but I bow to the forum's silent majority. I figgered: Bigger bet might be a bluff: he pushes... Smaller bet might be a weak bluff if he hit his str8=he pushes (or just calls cryin) Anyway, I bet 10$ he called and didn't show. Weak. I was hoping he might get crazy on me and raise, but of course with 3rd pair on that board...you'd have to be REALLY crazy. |
