Default Way to go Nike!!!!!

A new ad by Nike. I don't know why this bothers me so much. And no, this isn't my myspace blog.

I don't know which is funnier, Nike completely stealing a symbol they couldn't buy if they wanted to, as it is one of the few things not for sale...Or the fact that MTV is covering it as news, when they wouldn't take a step to spit in Dischords direction back in the day.

When I saw XLukeX's post in the psychology forum, it reminded me how straight edge kids totally missed Minor Threats point anyway. People actually bring up the band while explaining that they are afraid about their parents yelling at them for playing poker. Funny as hell.

Nike sucks for copyright infringement, but hey, I got no right to complain, I steal all my songs through file sharing. In the grand scheme of things, you have two choices...care about your art, or care about your business. Ian MacKaye made the right choice for him, and had a bigger influence over the grand scheme of things by taking the route he did.

And this ad will bring more publicity to a great band than they could have ever done themselves at this point. If 300 kids listening to crappy music, end up buying Dischord 1981, the Year in 7 inches and then download all the Youth Brigade songs they can find, and then listen to 'I Hate My Life' as much as I do...good for them...Nike's thievery will end up positive. Nobody who knows about Dischord will think they endorse Nike, and others will wonder about the band, and maybe learn something.

I got into punk when I saw 'Another State of Mind' on cable in the mid 80's...I'm sure people now would be thinking 'Dude, cable, dude, that's so lame...like his parents must be paying for that' Whatever...big picture.

It's 5:30 AM, that was a drunken rant...I won't reread it to see if it makes sense...I get my gist.
