Default Pizza guy gave me a bad beat

My one and only bad beat story.

I post the big blind and get AJ. Doorbell rings and I know it's the pizza delivery guy. My girlfriend's half naked so I couldn't ask her to get the door. So I click on 'raise any' just so I'd have a little more time. I rush to the door, grab the pizza and gave him some money. Now the pizza was 18.75 or so, and I usually like to give $22 or so. But I had no ones on me. So I give him $20 and grab whatever change I had in my pocket ($1.50) and give it to him. Rush back to my computer and saw that I had timed out and the flop was KJJ. Made me sick to my stomach. Turns out, I think I lost about about $900 by timing out. That was one expensive pizza.

Now of course, the poker algorithm may work in such a way that if I hadn't timed out, the flop would not have been KJJ.

Now I know some of you are gonna flame me and say if you knew the guy was coming you shouldn't have posted your blind, etc. But I'm posting this more as a humorous anecdote than to really complain.

No, the "shuffle" of the cards is done prior to any cards being dealt, all randomization stops at that point. (At least with party poker and most of the other major sites).

This was 30/60 at PokerStars. The pot was capped pre-flop and I had timed out after raising to 90. There was a good bit of action post-flop but no showdown.

Anyone really know how the shuffle algorithm works at PokerStars?

How do you raise any with AJ from the big blind in the 30 game? Wow.

I don't usually. I did this only to give myself more time. I figured if I click raise any, then I'd get another round of action so I'd have more time to pay the guy and come back.

If you don't believe me, email them and ask them yourself. They won't tell you what the algorithm is, but they will tell you that the cards are randomized PRIOR to any cards being dealt. This is how I found out.

Umm... you routinely play capped pots with A/J?
Considering the preflop and postflop action, i wouldn't be surprised then if you went to showdown only to have the capper show KK.
