Default Having trouble heads up

Situation: Stars 10+1, two players left. Villian is aggressive and built a 7K stack through playing pretty well. Blinds are at ~150/300

I took out mr 3rd place doubling up to 6K and we are heads up. Ive been feeling like I'm too passive heads up and want to play more aggressively.

Hero is delt AQo. Hero bets out 1000 from SB. Villian raises to 3000. Hero Pushes!?!?

Was this a bad push? I know that Im behind AA, KK, AK, and ahead of pretty much even or ahead of everything else. I had been playing my premium hands too passively. Was this too aggressive?

Your push was fine. I'm not laying AQ down HU just because an aggressive player comes over the top (with your stack sizes).

I just feel like Mr second place these days. I used to steam roll people at the 5's heads up.

good play, not too agressive. also, you may want to consider mixing in some raising with crap and checking/calling with your premium hands, I find that it induces action at the right times.
