Default Changes in Pokerroom PP earn rate and bonus clearing rate.

This was announced on their website.

I didn't work out the math, but it seems like the bonus will clear slightly faster at levels where you are raked consistently at $2. Everywhere else it's going to suck just as bad, or worse.

Change of Player Points structure (Sep. 05, 2005)
On Wednesday, September 7, 9 AM ET the Player Points structure will change! The new structure will look like this:

Rake Player Points
<$0.05 0.00
$0.05-$0.09 0.05
$0.10-$0.14 0.10
$0.15-$0.19 0.15
$0.20-$0.24 0.20
$0.25-$0.49 0.25
$0.50-$0.99 0.50
$1.00-$1.99 1.00
$2.00 and above 2.00

At the same time all new and current bonus tasks will be converted according to the following schedule:

Old clearing rate New clearing rate
4 PP/$ 6 PP/$
5 PP/$ 8 PP/$
6 PP/$ 10 PP/$
7 PP/$ 12 PP/$
8 PP/$ 13 PP/$
9 PP/$ 15 PP/$
10 PP/$ 16 PP/$
11 PP/$ 18 PP/$
12 PP/$ 20 PP/$
13 PP/$ 21 PP/$
14 PP/$ 23 PP/$
15 PP/$ 25 PP/$

Hey, nice correction, giving back partial points for the pots raked < .50! Kudos for the quick correction!

Lol, nevermind! Hopefully we will be very wrong about this, but I'm having a hard time imagining the .05 raked -> .40 raked hands are going to make up for a 50%-and up increase in clearing requirements.

Actually, I can do some work for a few minutes and see how this changes in a 500 hand sample or so (for $1 NL anyway)..

Be right back..

They don't make it easy over there do they? Who comes up with this crap?

Looks like it will amount to about a 60-75% reduction in their rediculous rake, depending on the level you play.

Anyhow the new structure is better than before. Can't wait til' Wednesday so I can finish up and get out of there. (sarcasm on) I think they have been reading my posts and turn the bad beat button on for me (sarcasm off).

Hey, my analysis is off to a great start, I am seeing hands at the .50-1 NL level being raked for $3. The confusing new rake chart states that the biggest pots should be raked 2 BB at this level. 2 BB = $2. It states in the lobby that $2 maximum is taken from rake. However, I have several hands from today (within the last 2 hours) that were raked $3. Pokerroom.com guy, can you address this?

Surely you can't expect their extensive analysis to catch something like this?

For .5/1 NL, the new system seems to be either a slight increase, or a slight decrease in bonus clearing speed, depending on the terms for the bonus. Maybe the differences are more pronounced at limit, because if not, it seems like a whole lot of things to change to make such a small difference.

Here are my stats for my 804 hand sample from tonight:

92 hands raked for .10
246 hands raked for .40
226 hands raked for 1.00
138 hands raked for 2.00 or more (7 hands raked above $2, the supposed limit!)

Points under old system: 364
Points under new system: 609.9

Old value for 7x bonus: $52
New value for 7x bonus: $50.8

Old value for 10x bonus: $36.40
New value for 10x bonus: $38.10

P.S. I'm still anxious to hear an explanation for having 7 pots raked for more then $2 tonight, at a table that clearly states a $2 maximum rake.

/nod, I was defending their willingness to look at these changes a second time, but I am starting to lose faith.

when he said they would "fix" the bonus clearing
rate somehow this wasnt what I expected.
so now you must clear 12 points for every $1 bonus instead of 7?

Pokerroom WTF?

Oh well if they are taking more than the maximim rake
then maybe that will make it clear faster.

Just saw a $51 pot on $.50/$.50 NL hold'em and there was only $1 rake, seems to agree with the rake table of 2BigBlinds or $3max.

Digging back further, I have been getting raked for up to $3 for some time, it seems. I dug a hand up from almost a month ago, and plugged it in to their hand retriever.

Hand

Pokerroom guy: How long have you been overraking me? Rake changes, bonus changes, whatever, I feel like I was being straight stole from now!

edit: In the last month+ at Pokerroom.com (and skins), I have played 37484 hands at the 0.50/1 NL/PL full ring tables. In those hands, 2056 hands have been raked for more than $2, which is the published maximum rake at this level. Due to this error, $1672.60 extra has been raked from these hands. With an average of 9.45 players per hand, that means each player at these tables was over-charged an average of $176.99 during this period.

edit again: Anyone know if $3 rake at these levels was standard before the rake change? Perhaps it was, and the rake change was just not properly implemented at this level.
