Default Line I\'ve never tried.

A weak tighty buddy of mine showed me this line, and well....I've tried it out a few times, seems to do well if used against the right players.

Villian is EXTREMELY AGRO, he loves to bet when checked to, I've seen him double and triple bet bluff a lot. His stats are 52/12 after 1,004 hands. I thought he might be the perfect guy to try this out on, is this standard and I'm stupid for posting it, or what do you guys think about the hand?

I think that line is not that stupid especially with JJ. With big pockets (KK and AA) I like checkraise here cause ppl generally have hard time believing you check the flop with that and often pay off big time with their QQ-1010 or some random crap.. like that : (sorry cant resist posting that hand) :

The villian had A2o, still not 100% sure if I like the flop check or not, but every once in a whiile, it's a good mix up.

Does Villain only make those 1/2 pot bets when he is full of poo? What do you do if he puts it all in on the river or overbets the pot 1.5x+?

I have used this line too in a live 5-150 spread game. The big difference was I pumped it up on the river after he had commited a lot of chips to the pot and was very unlikely to lay down his hand.

Frankly I never do this if I do not have a strong read on the hand. In the specifc hand I played this line, I had JJ in the BB and the villian was UTG and raised. We went HU to the flop with me checking, him betting, me calling the flop with a paired board that included cards in his range and turn went the same. I checked on the river "knowing" my hand was good and that he would fire again, he bet max, I RR max, he folded AKs unimproved face up, I never showed. I really wish I had a junk hand to show there, it would have done wonders for my image.

It's risky to do this with JJ, because he will often have two overs and be drawing to 6 outs.

At what point do you have to fold? Assuming no overcards hit, would you still call an all-in? I'd rather push him out of the pot before an ace or king hit and you're forced to fold to a big bluff. I often use this tactic in short-handed limit, but I wouldn't want to risk building a big NL pot and having to fold on the river when a scare card hits.
