Default Gun on 2plus2 books?

Whats the significance of the gun on the cover of a few two plus two books, just curious, i apoligize ahead if this has already been asked.

Given that it's the famed Colt Peacemaker of the Old West/gunfighter days, must have something to do with the rougher side of poker's reputation (although IIRC faro, not poker, was the game of choice back then). Just guessing of course...

It's so that people think you're reading a gun book, which is so much cooler than reading a poker book.
