Default Third Coming of the Designated No Content Thread! (Post it in here!)

Once again, the No Content Thread has far too much content. Thus, it is once again time for a new one, and once again, I'll get things kicked off. I was having a pretty good night until this hand:

Party Poker 3.00/6.00 Hold'em <font color="#0000FF">(6 handed)</font> link

Preflop: Hero is BB with T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
UTG calls, MP calls, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (4.00 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">SB bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, UTG folds, MP folds, <font color="#CC3333">SB 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero caps</font>, SB calls.

Turn: (6.00 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">SB bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, SB calls.

River: (10.00 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">SB bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">SB 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero caps</font>, SB calls.

Final Pot: 18.00 BB.
Results in white below:<font color="#FFFFFF">
Hero has Td 7s (a full house, Tens full of sevens.)
SB has Jd Jh (a full house, Jacks full of tens.)
SB wins 17.50 BB.
</font>

Enjoy, guys! Please remember to put ALL big hands, hot streak brags, downswing rants, and bad beat posts IN HERE.

So I have been getting way more frustrated than usual these last 4 days when losing at my new level (5/10 SH). Then I clued in when I looked at my graph. 3 completely separate 100BB downswings in my fisrt 10k hands at 5/10 6max. Still up, and feeling confident, but my headphones took a trip across the room today.

As a side note, what's a typical win % for AA? 60.9% seems low.

[VENT]

Clearing my $100 bonus at Paradise I was up 40 BB playing .5/1 with only 150 raked hands to go to clear the bonus.

In the last 150 raked hands I went on a 40 BB downswing, and really, I can't say I played any of those hands badly. The real kicker was an AK I had raised got cold-called by 62os and the flop came A-2-6. Turn was a 6. Perfect.

4 times I had trips beaten by the board filling up with four to a suit I didn't have. Just [censored] PAIR will you!!!!

Ack! Anyway, I made it through up $100 in my bankroll. When is Party's next reload?

[/vent]

Back to more NC.

Default Getting the Best of It - 30 Second Review

Absolutely no threads about it on the live forum or the archive, and it's certainly not worth creating a thread about it, so NC here we are.

Has anyone read Getting the Best of It? It's probably a little too 'general' for most players who are just interested in making a few bucks at 2/4. But for the anal like me, this book is phenomenal. I love the slightly better description of using game theory to bluff, and the sections on odds, EV, and Bayes Theorem are great. Things I already knew, presented in a much better way with new ideas to ponder. The best sections, however, are clearly the 'Interesting Dice Proposition' (8 6 vs 7 7) and the 'Another Gambling Paradox' chapters. The latter is required reading for anyone who has ever muttered the phrase 'multiway hand'. This is good, good stuff, and if you ever care to take your game beyond a preflop chart and 1.5bb/100 at 1/2 and really understand gambling (which is what we are doing), this is a great place to start.
