Default Check in the Dark ?

2-3 NL Yesterday at Commerce I have about 600 and Villian has about 500.

I am in the BB with QQ and there are 4 limpers to me. I raise to 15 and Villian in early middle position calls the rest of the table folds.

I had not seen the villian get out of line yet and make a move on somebody but there was recently a floor ruling that didnt go in his favor and he was pretty pissed and could be tilting. Also, I have never seen anybody check in the dark other then on tv and so I was a little confused by that.

Before the flop Villian announces 'check in the dark' and the board flops 995 rainbow. I bet 20 into the pot and villian instantly raises 80 more. What do you do in this situation?

I think you either have to raise or fold and raising would be costly but folding an over pair on this board didnt seem right either.

After the hand I felt like I should have checked behind on the flop to put the action on him and keep the pot small and didnt think a free card could hurt me that much if I were ahead since their were no strong draws on the board.
