Default Re: Another KQs hand (with a big stack) - How’s my line?

Okay, I figured that I had a strong draw and I was going to the mat with this hand. I would call any raise that CO makes, whether I bet or check raise. Given that, I thought that I would take position away from him and be aggressive, so I pushed.

I really felt I was going all-in no matter what, so I might as well push first.

I don't like the line on the flop. Mainly because if I was opponent that's _exactly_ the line I'd want my opponent taking when I have a big pair.

Deciding you are going to the mat with this hand doesn't mean you have to charge yourself the max without a made hand.

I think a good % of the time, villain (who raised really small preflop) will bet small enough to let himself off on the river here, so I don't like open pushing, as it just costs you money from hands that will bet/fold, and also costs you money from hands that will call your push but push into you when checked to.

I think there's a very small chance villain is bluffing.

Hah, you must not play at Bay101. I've open raised with AKs and have had LP players reraise me with KJo (they always hit their Jack tho.)

Yes, your right. That's why I posted. I was lucky this time but I need to find where my leaks are if I want to improve long term. Thanks for the feedback.

You also do not play at Bay101. Just a few hands earlier, I busted a medium stack with a flopped set. There were 3 limpers ahead of me and I decided to limp pockets nines on the button. SB completes and BB checks.

Flop comes Ace, 9, 6 rainbow.

Checked around to me and I bet half the pot as if I'm stealing. Everyone folds except BB.

Turn is another rag. BB checks, I pot and BB pushes. I insta call and he turns over pocket 3's. He was drawing dead, no flush, no straight...he couldn't even beat the board. I guess he put me on air, so maybe my table image wasn't what I thought.

But I digress. With 50 players still in, these guys have plenty of gamble and seldom will give up bottom pair, let alone pocket Aces.

He might have had a missed AK/AQ, so I also would have been happy with taking the pot on the flop uncontested. Maybe that's a leak too.

Thanks, John

I would fold to the reraise preflop. You're going to be playing OOP with a likely dominated hand against a big stack. I've just started to get back into tournment play though so who knows.

As played I check the flop. Best case you get a free card. Not sure if I would call if villian pushed, would really depend on if I got any reads. Same thing if he bets small, if it seems weak, I c/r all in, if he seems strong I don't c/r b/c basically every tourney I've ever played in they are never folding an overpair here.

i think a preflop fold might be good here, just because of the amount of chips its going to cost you to get away if the flop comes king or queen high.

having not folded, i'm C/Ring allin here most of the time.
