Default No Limit $$$ on Table Question

When playing a no limit table is it permissible to add chips if you drop below the max buy-in? If so, do you need to announce that you are adding or just drop the chips on your stack?

I haven't played enough NLHE at enough sites to answer in the general case, but at Foxwoods you must drop below the minimum buy-in. Then, at least in $1-2, you're allowed to rebuy for the max. Since $1-2 is $40 min - $100 max, you can get $138 or so on the table by posting a blind then rebuying for $100 after the conclusion of the hand.

You can "chip up" to the max buy in at any time in most rooms. You dont have to announce it, but say you have 135 on the table and you want to have 200. All you have is $100 bill. Tell the dealer you'd like to have 200 on the table. A good dealer will tell you to take the 35 off and the 100 will be your "change" per say. So now you have 200 and no hassles making change or slowing up the game. Then you'll have 35 in your pocket in change already made to use at any time.

I should clarify, I think you can buy back up to $100 at any time. But to get over $100, you have to fall below $40 and then rebuy for $100.
