Re: How to handle a pissed off dealer
I'm going to jump on the bandwagon here and TOTALLY AGREE.
One thing I have noticed is that newer dealers, who deal mostly 2-4 and 1-2 no limit, typically in rooms with jackpots or high hand bonuses, get a very SKEWED viewpoint on HOW MUCH SHOULD SOMEONE TIP in a pot. They get the 2-4 tourists, and the grandma from iowa who tips $40 on a $300 pot in 1-2 no limit, and there's little else being dealt in their room, thus they get the WRONG impression as to what a "standard" tip should be. Now I know I'm an advocate of tipping, and I'm not trying to hijack this thread and make it a tipping thread, the poker gods know damn well we don't need any more of THOSE.... But still, take your average 2-4 table, and your average 20-40 at mirage table. You'll make $1 a pot at the mirage, but get 18-20 hands plus a down out (if you're even half a decent dealer at all). At 2-4 you'll get 10-15 hands per down, but get more than a buck a pot average. But if you pay attention, you'll make more PER DOWN, ON AVERAGE in the higher game, because of the speed of the game. So DITCH the "image" that ridiculously high tips are "THE STANDARD." Take your buck a pot and be happy. And if you bitch about it, don't be surprised if you find yourself JOB HUNTING. al |

Re: How to handle a pissed off dealer
I saw a guy tip 50 bucks when he sucked and doubled his buy in
I tipped a dealer at the MGM after his down because he was such a great dealer, ran a fast game, asked me if I was folding ( which I was- I had turned around to talked to my friend at another table and my cards were unprtoected but still nice of him to ask) and he also immediately asked someone who made a vague hand gesture if they meant to check and I won exactly 0 pots when he was dealing. |

Heaven forbid... Seriously though, when you play live you need to kick a buck to the dealers at low limits, and be a little more generous as you go up in limits or take down bigger pots. Happy dealers often make for looser tables, unless you're dealing with a bunch of rocks/locals. |

Take a $1 dollar chip to the bathroom, get creative, then start the tipping, baby!

Re: How to handle a pissed off dealer
Ah, yea I didn't notice the blinds were 2/5. I'd still tip on that, but as you stated, that's a personal choice and a customer i.e. player should not have to deal with any mistreatment as a result.

Re: How to handle a pissed off dealer
Maybe the dealer wasn't doing it on purpose! If your sure he was than hes a prick because there is no reason to tip that pot. Politly ask to pitch closer and if he ignores you dont tip and write a letter to the card room later giving his or her name and a report of the incident.

Re: How to handle a pissed off dealer
next time you win a pot you should tip him. but throw the chip so that it splashes the his trey and then bounces up and hits him. Or you could just ask him what his fecking problem is. Up to you.
