Default A,Q a day - DAY TWO

OK Day 2 of trying to improve my AQ play. I appreciated Day 1 comments - turned out it was standard. In some respects, hopefully this is too - as it means I'm not a total screw up.

Villian is 40/6/.5 although I wasn't aware of it at the time. But let's treat this as I have whatever read the stats provide. He had just won a big hand and was trash talking. I am new to the table.

Party Poker (10 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
Preflop: UTG call, 1 fold, UTG+2 calls, 1 fold, Hero raises, 1 call, Villian calls, folds to the limpers who call

5 to the flop for 11.5 sb

Flop: A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 players)
UTG checks, UTG+2 checks, Hero bets, MP3 folds, Villian calls, UTG Calls, UTG+2 folds.

3 to the turn for 8.5 bb

Turn: 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets, Villian calls, UTG folds.

2 to the river for 10.5 bb

River: 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
.
Hero bets, villian raises, hero calls.
Final Pot:

Appreciate any feedback.
Shant the converter really screwed this up, Can't ever seem to get it to work. Tried to clean it up, hope it is sensible.

Again, thanks in advance for any who might reply.

LOL - thats positive reinforcement. Thanks.

My thinking on the river was that I had to call - I've got a LAG sitting on my left, as this is my first hand I can't reinforce him making plays at me by folding TPTK. Standard - Yes???

The picture says it all. There was no other way you could have played it to avoid getting beaten, and you have to call the river raise. Fact of poker: you will get outdrawn while playing correctly.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm not off my rocker. Appreciate the confirmation.

Villian showed 7,8 for the straight.

He incorrectly called on the flop didn't he? Turn is correct with the OESD. But I can't believe the flop is correct. But he did hit runner, runner - perfect.

Thanks again!

I really don't know any other way you can play it here. Looks like he hit something like A5 or a slowplayed set, but I've seen hands like AT and AJ played like this as well.

You can't really play it any other way.

Yep, flop call was bad he only had a backdoor job for 1.5 outs at best. Nowhere near enough even to peel.
