Default 20/40 heads up vs. birdbonescuz

yes, I'm posting because I'm going through an extremely frustrating 10k break-even/downswing.

Bird's 4-6handed stats are 35/12/1.25, I would call him loose passive overall, I haven't seen him go more than a couple bets without >TP.

He opencompletes, I raise with black AA, he calls.

Flop 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

check bet call.

Turn J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

check, bet, raise, 3bet, cap, i fold.

good?

The fold is of course obviouse once he caps. The 3 bet is debatble since with this board texture, he cannot expect to move you off many hands, so it's almost always for value.

i like the turn 3bet if hes the type to call down an 8 or 9. you pay the same amount of bets to know that your hand is no good in this spot rather than calling down. the times that youre ahead you win an extra bet. folding to the cap is easy.

what type of range do you put villain on when he c/c, c/r's? I think this includes lots of Js, some QT, and the occasional no-pair-lets-fold-the-tag move, or semibluff, etc. I think it's rare for a worse hand to call a 3bet and river bet from this type of player...

the loosish passivish guys don't go c/ring middle/3rd pair on the turn, they just keep calling. They occasionally c/r a draw or something weird...I see no reason to open ourselves up to a 4bet which forces us to fold what is often a 4-outer. I call down from the c/r.

I've played with this guy a bit the last few days and I agree with Surf here that there is very little value in a turn 3-bet. I'd say you're barely good enough to call down here so just do that and see the river, which may improve your hand.
