there was a rat at the end with 19k chips, before me... so I thought I should wait and got a little extra money for 5th.... but KJo is a pretty damn good hand short handed.

I am the karl malone of poker, i always get 2-6 at final tables but ive been to the playoffs plenty of times.

Umm, why push here? At the final table, it's about surviving. Why not just see a flop? It's not like you have to win a coin flip to have a chance in order to make the final table, you're already there. And there is a shorter stack than you, so the longer you put off that chance of busting out the more money you make. KJ is good shorthanded when you hit something, but a dog against any ace that would call all in.

You ran into ace king, tough luck. A lot depends on the situation. Here are some other factors:

Is there an ante?
**If there is you have a lot more incentive to push allin (no in this case, must have been party or pokerroom not stars)?

Have you overraised your natural percentage with these players.
***If you have you have more chance of being called by kq, aj or a small pair, all hands that have you beat badly or put you in coin flip jeopardy. If you've played really tough and shown (called or not) big hands then you have a much greater chance of getting through.

Are the big stacks aggressively hunting down the small stacks?
***If overly so, you have a chance of getting called by a weaker hand like qj or k10. If the big stacks are resting waiting for the other guys to break each other, then you have a bigger chance of getting a steal, but little chance of being called by a one out hand like those above.

Have they seen how you played a big hand?
***Let's say you raised the minimum with kk and showed them a big hand. Then you might try a minimum raise here. It seems strange, but at this point in a tourney if someone has a really big hand, they don't usually just bust it all in. If they're stealing they'll usually jam it all in. The other players would probably fear a minimum raise more than an all in. Someone with KQ might even call, then release for a post flop bet when blanks flop.

Generally, I agree with the push advocates more than the wait advocates. Until you get the big bumps from 4 to 3 and then 3 to 2, it doesn't pay to wait on a smaller stack blinding out. The payouts go way up from 4 on. Playing for the minimum payout is rarely correct.

I agree with a push, you're short-stacked and need to accumulate chips if you hope to survive and have a chance at winning the event.

I'd be surprised if the big stacks let him see a flop. Really surprised. You think they're gonna let him limp in when he wants?

Well, you've got what, four orbits until you're blinded out? True there are some stacks shorter than you, but I dont think this is a bad push considering your stack size to the blinds and other players at the table.

Unless they are completely weak and will let you push them around, I dont see this as a bad play.

I like this push. You have an M of about 3 (read HOH2) plus the table is short handed so it's in fact more like an M between 1 and 2. You have first in vigorish and just happened to be up against AK. I think this is +EV and would make this play myself. However, I've been playing a lot of STT SnG's and have become a bit of a push monkey .
The only reason for not is the one stack shorter than you, but I don't like playing this way. Congrats on the FT.

Hell, I'm usually thrilled to have 2 face cards to push with at this point. If your M is over ten, then you could probably wait for a better spot...as it stands you're blinded out in the next several orbits. The only time I pass is if it's clear that by folding I can move up one spot in the money and that move is significant $$$ wise.
