Default Should i have pushed this? a,8 BB on bubble

Eurobet $33 sng

We had been on the bubble for a while and TFick37 had just lost a big pot to jambay the hand before. I wanted to push here but given that he had never limped before i figured he might have a monster. Even if he didn't i figured that he would call anyway. Also a1945 completing made me less happy about pushing.

Should i have pushed anyway?

The SB completing should make you more happy about pushing b/c now the other guy will feel he's in a situation where he could be allin 3 ways....which always sucks when you're the shortest stack. However, the SB is coming along for the ride and almost surely will fold.

Pushing seems good to me. I really doubt someone as short as $750 is trapping like this (altho he still might call...but you have plenty of FE, dead $$, and the best hand here).

Ok thanks for the advice.

I see now in hindsight how much of a bad check that was.

Certainly looks scary enough for me to fold here. Preflop, I probably also would have called for the same reasons as you stated.

The button cannot afford to call 200 preflop with a weak holding. If he has a good holding like AJ or 99 he should definitely push here. He pushed before, so he would certainly push here. Yeah, looks like he had a big pair.

If I am short stacked and have a monster (AA, KK) I would play exactly the same as the button. I needed someone to make a move against me and I would love to have it 3-way.

Well, if the OP really thinks it *very* weird the guy is limping I don't mind his play. So many players limp 'marginal' holdings that they don't feel are strong enough to push...and somehow they then will fold them in these situations.

I didn't really read the whole 'this guy never limps' or whatever....if that really is true then I don't mind the line as much. Most of the time he won't have a monster I'd imagine...even if this is how he plays his monsters.

No, short stack has only 3.75xBB. I'd say you're about as likely to get a fold as if you were CO (considering both players have VP$IP and one or both could be slowplaying a big hand). I'd check, take the free flop and gauge it from there.

Well that was the dilemma i had. He could have had a monster and even if i raised he would more then likely call. Therefore if i pushed i either lose to a monster or i am a slight favourite.

On the flip side by not missing if i miss then he gets almost a free double up and he is no longer shorty.

So i think i should have pushed and hoped for the best.

I think you played it fine, I would say you are called here way too often to make this a +EV move.

That was my theory but by playing it that way i allowed him to double up for free effectively and therefore made him into the same size stack as me. I was just curious if that was a bad move.
