villain has been too tight HU. up till this hand he had folded 4 of his 5 SB's, and on the other he pushed and showed AJ. i have open-raised 4 of my 5 SB's and folded one to a reraise (won blinds in the others; he showed AJ on the reraise). the full HU HH is posted below. here is the key hand:

I hate the flop call. You have to decide if he has a better ace now, because the stacks aren't deep enough to decide at any other time. He is going to push the turn when you check to him 100% of the time unless he has a hand like a set of aces.

You played the whole tourney with him, I didn't.... but push the flop to his minraise or just fold. Most of the time I push the flop to his minraise.

i agree he's pretty likely to push the turn, which is why i hate a flop push. if i decide my hand is good, why should i let him get away from J8 or whatever? i think the three acceptable lines are

- fold
- call, check/fold turn
- call, check/call turn

if i decide i'm going broke against a good hand, i want to maximize my chance of busting a bad one. i don't think there are many free cards that hurt, and if he does check behind a hand like Jx on the turn, he'll pay off a bet on the river.

Good point. But what I was saying was:

Is horrible. Either fold on the flop or try to trap him for the rest of his chips.

I think checking PF is okay. If he's been folding a ton, the limp in is pretty suspicious, although given that he also pushed and showed with AJ it's not necessarily a monster. I don't think stacks are deep enough to probe him right now with a bet without pushing, and I'm not a big fan of pushing into that limp against a player who has been too tight with A6, so I like the check.

I agree with durron's assessment of how you should handle the flop minraise. Decide right there if you want to get your stack in, and then either fold or call and check/call the turn. Betting the flop is probably a pretty decent idea against a tight opponent (was he passive or aggressive post flop?) because it's probably going to let you know when you're beat while still leaving you some chips. So all in all, I don't mind how you played the hand, except I wouldn't call the flop raise and then fold the turn.
