Re: Level 3 - AK hand
Definitely. This is a GREAT hand to pick up in this spot. You want to push to be able to see all the cards and to give yourself a great chance to get right back in it.
Calling then folding when you miss 2/3 of the time isn't a very sound strategy. Folding on this short of a stack would seem awful in this situation. A more interesting situation is: How do you play this if you also have 2000 chips? 1500? 1000? I'd probably push with 1000ish or less and just call with more. |

Re: Level 3 - AK hand
Chis, I thought about that identical question when I posted (How would I play this with a larger chip stack?)
Also, I was thinking what hand range I should/could put villain on? I'm thinking 88+, AQ+, since there is already one limper. That being said, I'm not positive what percentage of the time villain folds this. |

Re: Level 3 - AK hand
I agree with your range (maybe include KQ and AJ if he's aggressive) and for that reason expect that he would never fold to your push (that reason being that his hands will be quite strong).

Re: Level 3 - AK hand
Again, you are incredibly weak-tight. After he calls, I might expect to see the range you're showing (prolly not, since your opponents suck), but when he raises, he could have A8+, KT+, most suited broadways, QJ, 55+, probably more.
And I'd push with upwards of 1300 in chips, cuz picking up t325 would be awesome, and a call at the low levels wouldn't completely suck. |

Re: Level 3 - AK hand
OK, so I used Eastbays calculator. I assumed he'd call 100% of the time. Using your range:
88+, AJ+, KQs: $EV = +1.0% Using my range: 88+, AQ+: $EV = 0.0% My result was kind of what I expected. You throw in there ANY probability of a fold, and this goes way up. |

What exactly do those EV calculations mean?

[/ QUOTE ] I don't agree with your hand range considering that there's already been one limper. Furthermore, his stack isn't desperate. I do agree that my opponents are very soft. While you seem to find some personal gratification by calling me incredibly weak-tight, I continue to find it a compliment. 8 handed, level 3, I think weak-tight play is still correct. With regard to this hand, I did push, I just wanted to do some math on it. |
