Default 22 in MP, push or fold time

PP $11...hand 5 of 100/200 blinds. Six players remain.

Two folds to me (t845) with 22. The button has slightly fewer chips and has been fairly tight. SB has about 1000 chips, but has been giving up his blind. BB has 2400+.

Last time I was in this position, I pushed with AKs and took the blinds. The now-BB commented that he thought it was a blatant steal. I typed "AKs" in the chat to, hopefully, ward him off.

Do you ever fold here and eat your small pair? Or is it always a push and take your chances? I figured if I don't run into a bigger pair, I'm about 50/50...plus whatever it's worth to me that they might fold. But for the big blind, it's only t645 to call a pot of t1145.
