Your color scheme the first time was way better. Even the graphic designer at work liked it a lot.

Rob, I'm not sure if the second one is better overall, but having the words "in Hold 'em" near "Getting Started" is a big improvement. Looking at the first one, the two halves of the title were so far apart that it was hard for me to read it as all one phrase. However, that may just be because my monitor is much larger than the book cover would be.

Btw, I really wish we would start using "holdem" instead of "hold 'em", but I know that hasn't been what 2+2 has done in the past.

Nagoo, man, that is an awesome awesome cover. Feels very Twoplustwo. Not sure on the middle pic, but besides that I love it.

I would love to see a two plus two book done up in Black. Thats sick dude, love it.

is this a book cover design competition or a cheeziest photoshop effects competition.

You're right, Glitch's design would be about a thousand times better if he toned down the outside glow, beveling, stroke and drop shadows, and cut the number of fonts down. I don't mean to pick on Glitch, the rest of them suck also.

On the off-chance that I'm wrong about the heavy use of effects, here's another entry.

No, but for a lot of people, the cover sells the book. If someone walked into a store and saw the cover for "Hold'em Poker for Advanced Players", they'd probably laugh and pick up Ken Warren's book. That's the reality. People are ignorant. Especially the newer books like SSH and HOH, people look at them and think a couple of 15 year olds put them together.

[/ QUOTE ]

While this is terrible news for 2+2, and we all want Ed and the rest of the 2+2 authors to have successful books, isn’t that better news for the people that know what those cards, 2d+2c=4h mean? Those that already know that no matter how flashy the other covers are, the quality of thought and theory is in the books, however ‘ugly’ the covers are, with the cards on the bottom of the spine.

BTW: The simple cover showing a showdown with the revolver signals to me that there is no effort to become flashy and polished. The lack of flash lends credibility to the book. It says that the authors believe that their information and discussion about the game is extremely sound. In general, it is reassuring to me as a player who is not interested in flash, but rather knowing how the game works.

Isn't anyone going to go the Mike Caro route and put a five card draw hand on the cover of a hold'em book?!?!?

We have a winner!

The "by Mr. Miller" bit was especially nice.
