I agree, but do you really think the government defines failure in the same way that you and I do? In other words, do you really think the average television viewer took greater care in analyzing the logistic and financial concerns (EV) of a quicker response, and believe an apparently sympathetic Bush when he expresses his regret?

It’s all about the bottom line as far as they’re concerned, and letting a few more homeless people die will not weigh heavy on their shoulders if it lends them the time to better allocate funds. Actually, letting a few otherwise-expensive-patients expire is probably a good idea (financially speaking of course).

actually, it's the same old story.

Results are unacceptable -

NOTE he didn't say "we made a mistake" or "we are partially to blame" or "maybe diverting FEMA from disaster planning wasn't the smartest decision I ever made" - but he did say he wasn't happy. - He's not taking responsibility for ANYTHING that goes wrong and he never has...

(I heard someone say one time that this inflexible rigidity is a classic symptom of a "Dry Drunk" - i.e. someone who quits drinking and doesn't work on the emotional aspects of their personality that need work after quitting)

The ONLY reason he's not stronger in his disdain and disapproval is because LA is a Republican state that was a strong lock for Republicans - he can't come down too hard on his underlings for their failures because they're Republicans,

and for that reason, but he's not gonna come out and ever apoligize for the poor decisions his administration made to cause this tragedy in the first place.

as I stated in my posts below, there is some dancing around because it's a Republican State that voted heavily for Bush -

it's obvious there are glaring failures, but to point them out is to point out the failures of the Republican administrations in those states, so they can't really go fingerpointing without taking a chance and disrupting their hold on those states in the next election -

let's not forget, this is a group for whom party loyalty trumps all, even over doing what's best for the country.
