For family games its hard to beat Apples to Apples. Everyone who i've ever played it with loves it, and it plays well with adults and children.

If you like Risk, then Risk 2210 is a blast, same basic game but with a lot of fun additions.

Not something I would reccomend for family play because its awful complex, but Betrayal at the House on Haunted Hill is crazy fun.

fyi betrayal has brand new rules/guides posted on the avalon hill web site, it has integrated the faq/errata and is supposed to result in a much better game
