Default Revisiting the Retarded Jets Front Office Moves

Doug Jolley, 7 catches for 79 yards. 0 TDs.
Mike Nugent, 3 missed field goals.

So.... yeah.

Update me. Did they trade Jolley for Nugent or for the pick that got Nugent or what?

Oh and Nugent sucks. Stupid Buckeye.

Nah, they traded their first rounder for Jolley and drafted Nugent with their 2nd rounder. They also traded Santana Moss for Coles++++

Moss: 23/458, 2 TD
Coles: 22/256, 1 TD

way to judge nugent after 5 games.
the guy was a great college kicker. made some very long clutch kicks for the bucks. you cant judge a rook after 5 games, even a kicker.

The Jolley and Nugent moves are awful.

But for the Jets' offense, Coles makes a lot more sense. You've already heard these arguments, and they do make sense when Pennington can't throw deep even with a healthy arm.

That's not the point - the point is that Nugent was drafted in the 2nd round. It doesn't make sense to draft a kicker in the 2nd round when you can get an equivalent kicker in a lower round.

Then why was Doug Brien judged after 1 game?

because he is not a rookie.
i understand what you are saying the jets are probably a team that can win now - so maybe they should have signed a veteran instead of taking nugent.
nugent was automatic from inside 55 for ohio st. so probably in the next couple yrs he will be the best kicker in the league. but it's proven even kickers struggle a bit as rookies.

Um, Doug Brien missed 2 40+ yard field goals in Heinz Field, where NO ONE HAS HIT A FIFTY YARDER EVER.

Kickers are inconsistent. They go on streaks like this. It happens. Overreacting two a game and reaching in the 2nd round for a kicker? ridiculous.

i think the knock on brien is lack of leg strength. (not just for that game - but because throughout his career he has been very good from short range but not good from 40+. so hes basically an avg. kicker.
i just say give nugent two yrs and then see what you think of him. he was one of the greatest kickers in college football ever. you would not judge a rookie qb after 5 games (granted is not quite a valid comparison)
