Too weak on the river?
Hero is ring-game noob (4K hands in PT). Villain is LP-A after 50 hands. Thoughts: I figured he'd fold to a bet unless the river made his flush/str8. Am I thinking about this the right way?
Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (8 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. UTG folds, Hero raises, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, CO folds, Button folds, SB folds, BB calls. Flop: (4.50 SB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) BB bets, Hero raises, BB calls. Turn: (4.25 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero bets, BB calls. River: (6.25 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero checks. Final Pot: 6.25 B |

Re: Too weak on the river?
Yes, bet the river. It's an easy value bet.

Re: Too weak on the river?
I think you have to bet here. You likely have the best hand. Don't be afraid of a check-raise, because I doubt it's going to happen. If he did flop a flush draw I don't know that he'd bet it on the flop. Same goes for a straight draw.
I'd put him on Qx or a mid pocket pair, maybe a small ace. He bets to see where he's at, gets raised, calls, and then doesn't have the discipline to let it go when the turn is bet. |

[ QUOTE ]
Villain is LP-A [/ QUOTE ] easy river-bet. He will call you with many hands you beat. Since he bet the flop and slowed down after your raise, i assume he has a Q or a A (or any other garbage) very often. |

Re: Too weak on the river?
Another thing:
Im my experience a lot of micro limit players tend to view "drawing hands" as a check-call, and then bet if you hit, situation. This hand is exactly the opposite. Had you bet and he called you all the way down, then bet out on the river I would have definitely been afraid (though without a stong read you almost have to call for one more bet). Unless he was on a missed straight or flush draw, if he called the turn, he'll likely call the river. And it doesn't really look like a draw. You have to value bet. As has been said, he has many 2nd best hands that he'd call with. |
