Default David Skalansky is a joke at Holdem

I was watching FSN's Poker SUperstars and Mike Sexton raised with KQ 4 or 5 handed. Skalansky had A-10 of spades and folded?!! He has no right to write about holdem if thats how they play.

Your leaving a lot out of this post, like position and chip stacks (I'm assuming they are playing no limit), but that still seems weak. I think Sklansky is more of a limit player anyway.

Sure lets forget about the short stack and how important the point jumps in this structure are.

What place is Sklansky in the Poker Superstars 2? 2nd?? 3rd?? out of 24 of the best players in the world?

I suppose you think Sklansky is a joke for folding A-K preflop in the WPT "By the Book" event with Doyle, Hellmuth, TJ, etc. ? I think he folded it to a raise by A-Q.

Wait a minute, where did Sklansky finish in that event?? First?! Yea that's what I thought.

I think David knows what he's doing. Go back to your hole.

I'm sure the OP would have mentioned those things if they were relevant to this hand.

I'm assuming the Gap Concept is irrelevant here too, since it's only a short-handed NL game with rapidly increasing blinds.

Sklansky obviously doen't know his pot odds from a hole in the ground, since he has picked up so few points in that tournament. Or was that Moneymaker I was thinking of?

The subject topic needs to be changed to "Poker Superstars II is a joke".

I read a few Skalansky's books such as Theory of Poker,
TPFAP. These are really good books. It helps to build a solid fundamental for your poker skills based on mathematics. Skalansky's strengh is at poker math.

However, real life poker needs more than math.
You need to adjust for other players's style and to have good reads on other people.

I don't know what is Skalansky's read at the table.
He maybe good or he maybe bad.
When you watch poker on TV, it is easy for an audience to make decision since you have holecard cam.
With Holecard cam, you never make a mistake.
In real life, everybody makes mistakes.
Whoever get lucky and make less mistakes will win.
