Re: protect the best hand ??

i disagree complety please explain your reasoning [/ QUOTE ] Are you serious? Here are your three options: You bet: You're probably about 30-50% to win it right there, depending on your opponents. Ace high will pay a lot of times here. If you get a cold call, chances are you're not up against a T, so you can check-call the river. A queen will bump you here, and if they're bluffing you give them credit and fold. You check: You are now subjugating yourself to folding to any sort of aggression what-so-ever, including A high betting out. You fold out of turn: About neutral EV as checking. Why not make this bet to see where you're at? This is a great place that I use to show off that "tight-aggressiveness" that I learned in some book.... My thoughts, Jihad |

Re: protect the best hand ??
if you are playing against decent players you should lead out on the turn because it looks like you missed a foiled checkraise attempt.
If you check on the turn it should be with the intention of checking and folding, not checking and calling 2 times. (once now and probably once on the river) The reason I think you may not want to bet on the turn because you believe that limpers usually limp with a T in there hand, a better Queen, or JK for an open ended straight draw and that is usually true, but it doesn't matter, they can have hands like A6s and J9s such as that type of hands. Why would you not lead the turn here? |

You bet: You're probably about 30-50% to win it right there, depending on your opponents. Ace high will pay a lot of times here. [/ QUOTE ] Not in my experience. An ace would have bet the flop. The only hands that are calling are better queens and sometimes straight draws. Any pair would have bet the flop. If you can stand the variance, I also like checking here -- to induce a bet. Depending on your opponents' tendencies you can 1. check-raise (the pair on board often insulates from being 3 bet) or 2. check-call trying to induce another bluff bet on the river. I've had a lot of success with the latter. No one bet the flop.....any pair or Ace usually bets that flop. Therefore opponents will have hands that the Queen will often pair. Consequently if your opponents are straight forward you can bet and fold to a raise. Against others you may be folding the best hand. |

Re: protect the best hand ??
the pot is 5 3.5 small bets, your opponents are unikely to have a pocket pair since they didnt bet the flop...
so the sceniero I see is: A.you bet the turn and win 3.5 sb's B.you bet the turn and get raised should be an ez fold lose 1BB C.you bet the turn and get called, making a tough river decision D.you check the turn and call a bet E.the turn gets checked thru giving yourself a chance for a river value bet I think option C you are beat most of the time, where option D I think most players will now take a stab at it on the turn with a hand they would have folded to your turn bet, allowing yourself the chance to make 1 BB some of the time |

Re: protect the best hand ??
I'd be very surprised if the last limper didn't have a ten. Depending on the lineup it's either bet-fold or check-fold IMO.

Do something and then do something, and you're line will probably be good. Who cares? Come up with something interesting the next time you feel like wasting 20 secons of my life. Sincerely,
