Default Middle Pocket Pair on Paired Flop

This was in my first orbit so no real reads. I know I was too passive, but I really have problems in this situation. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm often raising 99 first in, but it's not important. Definitely check-raising the flop.

The way this went I'd probably call the river hoping to see 77 or a busted flush draw bluff. I don't know, though, how often we're good here.

*grunching*

Preflop: Raise preflop, it's a strong enough hand to raise

Flop: I'd lead this. When UTG+1 check/raised us, I'm thinking he might have an 8

Turn: I like...but I'm going wtf is going on

River: I'm thinking a raise/fold. You do have a top pair higher than anything on the board. If he has a boat, he'll reraise you.

I think MP2 had 2 overcards.

I don't mind the preflop limp so much. 99 can be a tricky hand to play out of position sometimes. As others have said, with the flop raiser on your right, you should go for the c/r to try and push the other player out. As it stands it looks like he wasn't going anywhere.

On the turn, I don't think we have to worry about MP2 as he most likely has over cards with the c/c on the flop. You still have an over pair that may be good. Many people would have raised preflop with TT or beter. I honestly might donk the turn. If utg1 raises you, it will put pressure on MP2 to fold and not give him the proper odds to call most likely. utg1 could easily just have 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] overcards or a 6.

The river kind of sucks. You're probably only going to get called or raised by a better hand now (better pair, 6, 8). I check/call hoping to induce a bluff or that it checks through.

I'm raising preflop, leading the flop, and how action develops from there is hard to tell.

As for how you played it, I check raise the flop.
